Public Transportation
You can enjoy the efficiency and reliability of Austin’s public transportation system as you glide into the aforementioned neighborhood called SoCo. And now that we’ve arrived in this desirable destination, get ready for a deep dive.

Proximity
The Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is conveniently located in this bustling yet quiet enclave of our capital city, inviting even more diversity and international flair to its already metropolitan aesthetic.

School System
Starting with the elementary foundation of schools like Baranoff, Joslin, Kocurek, Odom, Williams, Bertha Casey and Cowan, kids then rise to our middle school system, which includes Bedichek and Paredes. South Austin is also proud to be the home of Crockett and Akins High Schools.

Population
In terms of demographics, millennials reign supreme. The median age of the region is 32 and their employment trends favor white collar jobs over blue collar by a factor of 45% to 11%. The average income per household is a robust $69,700, which has allowed home prices to grow steadily over the past two decades. According to gentrification data from two key districts in South Austin, median home prices have soared 59% and 65% respectively since the year 2000. This truly is a neighborhood on the uprise.

ART & CULTURE

Culture flows freely in every corner of South Austin, from the lively tones of the Texas Music Museum to the storied esteem of the O. Henry House to the visual showstoppers on exhibit at The Contemporary Austin.

Nightlife
As the sun sets on South Austin, our nightlife heats up. Locals have been rocking to the music, merriment and majesty of The Continental Club since 1955. That’s a lot of smiles! For even more of an international affair, check out L’Estelle House and Drafting Room. Not only do they offer French flavors and wines, but they also offer their services as a popular event venue for your next South Austin special occasion.

Shopping
SoCo is the ideal place to outfit your new place, offering furniture shops on Burnet Road for all of your home décor needs. You can also treat yourself to upscale browsing at Barton Creek Square Mall or browse the premium outlets in nearby Round Rock.

Go nuts at the George Washington Carver Museum, which brings history alive and celebrates our diversity as well as our unity. On that note, the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center dedicates itself to the celebration and preservation of the Latin culture that mingles so indelibly with the South Austin landscape.

Food Scene
Like the melting pot it has become, South Austin’s foodie reputation is a wondrous mix of cuisines, cultures, and coolness. The neighborhood’s flavor profiles span from East Africa (Taste of Ethiopia) to Tokyo (Lucky Robot Japanese Kitchen) to Cuba (Habana Restaurant) and back home for a bevy or local Tex-Mex favorites.
