Apple is Coming to Austin!

OVERVIEW

Apple, one of the largest companies in the world, has broken ground on its new $1 billion, 3-million-square-foot facility in Northwest Austin. The Parmer Lane campus will be about 2.3 million square feet on 133 acres of land. It’s set to open in 2022.

Area
This massive campus is located in Williamson County off of Parmer Lane, near the current Apple office just up the street. The campus is situated among the Jollyville, Anderson Mill, and Domain Northside areas.

Proximity
There are major roadways on all sides of the future campus. Loop 1 (Mopac) and U.S. Highway 183 flank on the east and west. These roads connect to the Highway 45 Toll Road that begins at 183 and runs all the way to the Highway 130 Toll Road. This is one of the most connected areas of Austin!

Schools
The campus is nestled in the heart of Round Rock Independent School District. It’s a rather large school district, but Apple and its nearest subdivisions are in the Deerpark Middle School/McNeil High School attendance boundary. Elementary schools include Live Oak, Pond Springs, Jollyville, Wells Branch, and Johnson.

Jobs
This is going to be a huge opportunity for current and future Austinites. According to an Apple press release, “The campus will initially house 5,000 employees, with the capacity to grow to 15,000… Apple is steadily growing in Austin with approximately 7,000 employees in the city — more than a 50 percent increase in the past five years alone.”
